I just traded for a 2 1/2 Inch Frontosa it only has 6 stripes and the guy said it was a 7 striped, is it to small to have all 7 stripes

Can you post pics? 7-stripe fronts are kigoma variant and my sub-male only has 6, so it does happen. Does it have any yellow in it's dorsal? Cheek pattern is another telltale sign of kigomas. Whatever stripes it is born with won't ever change. My kigoma fry (stripped ay 28 days) all have their 7 stripes immediately. Here's an older pic of my 6-stripe kigoma. If it is a 6-stripe kigoma, it won't be much good for breeding.
