what is the minimum quantity of frontosas for the fish to be happy?
what is the minimum tank size for the colony?
can orange head calvus go with the frontosa colony?
thank you

I would say 55 single and an 100 for a whole colony
im not sure about the calvus though

i would think that 10+ fronts that get over a foot long in a 120 might be a bit much before too long.... however, they do grow slow

in my opinion there isn't much in an aquarium that makes me say 'wow' more than a large vibrant frontosa just lumbering around the tank

If it were me I would probably only have a trio in a 120, but I have only kept Fronts for a few months. I have heard of some people keeping up to 6 in a 75 gallon. I would rather they have a much larger tank though. I'm going to put 8 in a 240, but I do have 9 small Burundi in a 125 and they seem extremely content. Keep in mind that the Burundi are only 3-7 inches long in the 125.

i would get 7 0r 8 small nice size colony... grow them up... and then most likely their will be extra males that you will have to rehome.. leaving the rest of the fronts plenty of room to grow into maturity... fronts do much better together in a group.. they are happy that way.. later as they mature they will start to fuss.. and you should keep only the dominant alpha male with the females..no doubt though the bigger the tank the better.. they grow very very slow.. but they do get very very big.. and they are valuable and beautiful so doing it right makes all the difference...

i have 4 males and 12 females in my 180 and they get along great. and calvus can go with frontosaas long as the fronts cant swallow them lol
