Hi all! Im currently re vamping my two tanks if u havent read the other threads.....Ones a 95 gal and ones a 55 gal. So ive always loved frontosa's and im wondering if i could try a breeding set up in my 95? I think its prolly a lil too small but just a thought and id appreciate any info u can offer me! Thanks!

Frontosa get really big in time and require a big tank, second the ratio of female to male needs to be really high 1 male to 3-4female and house in a 95gal is to small. I have a total of 12 Frotosa and they are in a 125gal but most Frontosa can reach up to 12-15in and require around 240gal to 300gal tank. Most of them don't reach mature intill 4yrs. I hope this helps!

Great help man! That's what i figured! I love the fish but no i cant keep em, just like my love of Cichla's! Just a thought that came up coz an LFS has some juvies and i just craved em but know it not possible with my current tank.....darnit! Its just like the other LFS that has Buttekoufories however u spell it! I want em but know i cant house em......oh well my "monster" 95 will be a truly MONSTER community tank but i cant smartly house any true "Monsters"......unfortunately......

I wasn't into fronotsa intill one day my LFS had some and wow very pretty and huge. I bought 3 frontosa don't know the sex of them I paid $50 for them and then a store was selling all the freshwater fish and I was able to pick up 7 more for $35 and the sex is still unknow but I have 12 house in a 125gal and I have (5) that are around 5-6in they grow slow so If you really want them you will have time to watch them grow in your 95gal. I hope to have a 300gal with colony of Frontosa and breed them but that will be with in time!!!

well my true passion and inspiration is once i own my own home to build my 500-2000 gal cichla tank! I love africans but they arent my true passion!

I agree. You could house some Fronts in a 95 Gal for quite a while until you get a bigger tank. I have had mine in a 30G (only 5 of them) for over 6 mo and theyaren't even near too big yet. And they are growing fast IMO.
