Does anybody keep these guys with non-cichlid tankmates? What is your experience with them? I have read that they are pretty laid back for a cichlid...is this true?

Nobody has any info????:screwy:

They can be laid back, they can also be pretty aggressive. Mine are young and more on the hyper side due to it's tank mates. I will have to seperate things shortly. They are starting to get bigger. I only keep mine with other chiclids.

Many peopel have kept them with non cichlid tank mates. I ve kept mine with datnoids and catfish, I dont have problems with samller catfish, but he likes to pick on larger ones.. o_O he is in a african only tank now.

Mine are more worried about each other than tank mates. Just make sure they have a cave or some where to hide and protect.

I have a single Front and he is housed with a 10" Tire Track Eel and they really enjoy each other. I had a 13" Black Banded Leporinus with him and it beat him up. The Bullet is now gone. My guy is named Barney and he is so laid back you just gotta love him.

Compared to other cichlids they are very laid back. Mine are very aggressive to each other but pretty much ignore other tank mates (all big haps except one brichardi and one mbuna) Notice i said big haps. I am sure that they would eat a much smaller fish, i was told if it will fit in their mouth they will eat it, maybe not tonight or this month... but one day you will wake up and it will be gone...poof !!

I keep mine with other africans cause i have high ph water except for a common pleco, (they do go for his eyes and body sometimes)

I've had my fronts with buffalo heads that they could easily eat for over a year and haven't lost a single one. Just be sure to provide each fish with adequate hiding space.

had a male 10 inch frontosa in with a breeding group of lamp brichardi. no problems at all, he would spit out the brichardi fry if he accidentally inhaled one. same fish couldn't be in with any other fish (cats, barbs, distichodus, arrowana, cichlids, etc) in any size tank we had (70 - 220), tried many different combinations.
