Hi

I urgently need some help. I rescued 5 frontosas which were kept very poorly in a small tank for how long i am not sure. The female seems to be the worse off eyes dug in -one can see into the sockets, very tatty fins from being harrased by the males. They are in a large tank now and the female is not being harrased but she is swimming alittle awarkedly. Apart from needing antibacterial they might need hole in the head medicine.

My question is which illness shall i treat first?

And do you think theres any hope for the female?

Thanks

there is only 1 female? thats not good! can you seperate her and treat the tank with salt, pimafix, and melafix?

I would go with ridding of parasites and bateria befor dealing with HITH. But we would need a bit more information about what you are dealing with before any solid advice can be rendered.

First off Glad to here you save those Frontosa I have group of 12 my self and I would hate to see anyone of mine be put in a small tank.

Check this link out for Hole in the head(http://pet-supplies.drsfostersmith.c...&subtotal=0.00)

When most of my africans get sick or my SA get sick I have been using lifeguard. I had a flowerhorn that I saved and he was really sick and wasn't eating I used that and with in two days he was eating like a pig. I would put your female in a hospital tank if you really want to save her. She will be fine in there just make he fill at home. when she is better then mover here back.

Hope this helps again Nice save!

good news. I fed them last night and all of them ate including the female. Great relief. In the UK unlike the US one can't always get alot of good treatments. What I'll do is do water change , treat with sera omnipur-best treatment in the uk- and take it from there. I am not going to seperate at the moument because many times when i have seperated , it was too much for the fish and also the tank is large, 160g, and she is not being harased. Ofcourse if things do turn worse i will seperate.

Thanks for your replies, its great to hearfrom like minded people
