i have two frontosa and i would like to breed them. My male is about 10 inches, and my female is about 6-7 inches. my male really want to mate with her but she refuses everytime. I also have the paired with two peacock bass 12-14 inches. My PH is at 8.0 all the time and i have caves for them to breed in. But how would i go about provking them to mate?

Fronts like to be in harem colonies for best breeding. It also takes them around 4 years to sexually mature. Anyways, something you can try is when you do your waterchanges you can fill up the tank with cooler water. This is a known trigger for front breeding.

Without a harem, there is the risk that the male could harm/kill the female. I suggest picking up some more females for the male.

You definitely need more fronts.

first of all how big is your tank?
what's the foot print?

often a water change helps induce spawning.

I wouldn't try without atleast a 5' tank and 4 to 5 fronts

1m/4f or 2m/3f or 1m/3fm

check out frontosa.com if you're serious about breeding fronts.

sometimes its real easy sometimes it'll never happen
it all really comes down to the fish
