My local LFS has the following in stock...and im just wondering which of the fish listed will inhabit the upper region of my tank...i have a tank with 7 fronts but they are all very passive and tend not to venture any higher than halfway up the tank...so what can i add to bring some life to the tank..

Neolamprologus tretocephalus
Neolamprologus brichardi
Cyprichromis leptosoma
Altolamprologus calvus
Altolamprologus compressiceps
Lamprologus' brevis/Lamprologus' multifasciatus

Seeing as cyprichromis are their natural diet, thats a definite no-no. Brichardi and trets could be iffy given their general torpedo-like shape. Shellies are far too small for full grown fronts. Adult calvus might work given their odd body shape.

Technically all those fish could work short term. I'm assuming you're looking for a combo that will work longer than that...

thanks for the replies, yeah its a tricky one..i realy want something long term..unfortunately the calvus are only 1.5 inch.

Comps. and Calvus will do fine w/the Fronts, however they will hug the rocks and not fill that mid/upper level. Trets pretty much look like slender fronts. Cyps. and shellies are food. Brichardi are tough, cheap little guys that will work for a while.

I use non-chiclids for dithers and a overall calmnees to my tank. I have Comps and Calvus that were always in or near the rocks. Once I added a school of rainbows, they are out and about all the time. When the yellow Comps. aren't out, it means they spawned. I also have some Arulius Barbs that are very active and fast. They get to be 4" or so and can live with Fronts. They may be a nighttime meal down the road, but will live wih smaller Fronts for a few years. I started with four and have only lost one female to my Front. The rest look to be male and are growing fast. Albino BN stand out in a tank. Other barbs like Spanner and Filamentous make great, active schoolers.

i have african cichlid with him for about 2 year now and no problem.. i dink u could do brichardi n calvus.. but arent those guy a little too small for them when front are fully grown??.. i dink it good only for short term

just thinking there...would it be possible to throw 20 or so neon tetras in with some medium sized fronts?

Those would be some expensive treats ;)

How large are the fronts exactly?
