Well been feeding my ca/sa's hikari carnivore pellets, gold, food sticks, and freeze dried shrimp. Last week i got some packets of the frozen spirulina shrimp and blood worms, which I fed for five days straight I guess it was easier but little by little the festae, salvini and freddy got this like white coat on em costia? velevt? looking not ich, water params solid just the food change think this caused it not enough protien? I dont know treating it since fri getting better everyday tomorow I stop meds rid ich+ you think it was the food. since its curing and fish are all ca/sa didnt post in disease but move this if necessary thanks..

There is lack of logic in theorizing that the cause would be lack of protein. Frozen bloodworms are quite high in crude protein. Did you thaw the frozen foods before feeding to your fish? If not, then this is possibly the culprit as sudden temperature changes can have adverse effects on the health of the fish as they are unable to adapt to the sudden changes in temperature. They tend to secrete a lot of slime coat in the process due to stress. Do you have any pics?

Thanks for the reply I'll put some pics up later after work. Yeah think your right, did'nt let thaw just plopped it in.... lesson learned, its all good due to mishap convinced wife to let me order a uv sterilizer LOL thanks.

its not necessary to thaw before feeding frozen foods i would really doubt the food being frozen would have any effect

The sudden change in temperature will undoubtedly cause unnecessary stress to the fish. How would it feel to be in a climate where temperature changes dramatically? I live in the tropics myself and immediately suffer headaches and colds when the rain suddenly pours during a hot day. All animals can adapt but not to the extreme changes in their environment.

i know temp changes affect fish but imo i dont see a few cubes of bloodworms affecting the temp of the tank or the fish that much they usually thaw by themselves in a few seconds in the tank anyways

if you dont get a good sterilized brand of blood worms they can bring in parasites and other nasties
