I have a worm heap at the bottom of the garden. During the spring I start feeding it with garden and kitchen waste and by the height of summer it is amass with wrigglers which all my fish love. During autumn, which is very much upon us now in the uk, I stop feeding it and it just dies back until I start feeding again the following spring.
There's still masses of worms in it at the moment so today I did a bit of an experiment. I gathered a small tub of worms and rinsed them. Then I chopped them up, thoroughly rinsed again, drained all the water off, and spooned them into the empty sections of a part used blister pack of bloodworms. Then I froze them.
It's worked an absolute treat. My plan now before the worm heap dies back for the winter is to harvest a few tubs of worms in the next couple of weeks and do the same. When i'm done i will have a fantastic supply of chopped frozen worms all through winter.
