how do u get nile monitor hooked on frozen pinkies.i thought they only liked moving prey.do i have to dangle it in his face or something.
 
they can quickly learn not too. try putting a pinkie in front of him and see if he eats. if not try some long tweezers.
 
Warm up the pinkie and put it on a warm rock.

If not... get a tong.
 
While he's small, insects are going to be his best bet. You won't need to start feeding rodent prey until he's about double the size of what he is now.

Young rodents are mostly fat anyway, not very nutritious. Wait until he's big enough to eat a small adult size mouse to begin feeding rodents.
 
I used the tong method to get my guys to eat frozen. Just make it look like it's alive and that usually triggers the feeding response.

If you decide to feed insects, make sure you gut load them for a day or two before you give them to you Nile. Good luck.
