I have been feeding my juvenile Red Devils frozen treats from time to time. Blood worms, Brine Shrimp, Mysis Shrimp, and Vegetable Blend (although they have rejected the Mysis Shrimp and Vegetable Blend so far).

I have been putting the cubes into the tank straight from the freezer.

I have seen no issue with this method, but now I am reading that some hobbyist thaw the food prior to placing in tank.

I enjoy watching the fish battle over the cubes, so is there a benefit to thawing?

I figure if I thaw...the food will just disperse around the tank and alot will be wasted.

Thank you in advance!

Yes......Thaw the food in a warm water bath before feeding........Krill and supermarket shrimp are fine......

I also throw in the frozen cubes and let the little ones pick off whatever is thawed from the side of the cube. the only one that dares swallow frozen bits is my bichir. I also consider this to be a more efficient method, as the food is more localized and the fish learn to go for the cube rather than search all around the tank.
