:irked: Ok so I purchased what is supposedly a freshwater moray eel. I was pretty sure that this was a misnomer and after a bit of research I clearly am going to be in a situation where my eel is being kept in substandard conditions. Anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions for me? BTW if this is posted in the wrong section, please move it.....

post a pic of your eel, I would guess what you have is g.tile. They can start out in fresh then should be kept in brackish and then full marine as adult.

Unfortunately i agree with aclockworkorange, the only real option if you want to keep it is possibly setting up a brackish / marine setup for it, if it is indeed a g.tile or something similar...

Otherwise, you'd probably be better off selling it?

i had one about 5 years alone in a high salinity brackish tank. Recently had one in full marine with the tankmates of a snowflake eel and miniatus grouper. Very adaptable, hardy fish, but needs high salinity, preferably marine

nice eel! but i agree with everyone else. brackish or else.
