I moved this past weekend and I lost a GATF along the way and now my FRT hasn't eaten in days...

What should I do?

I upgraded the tank, and it's approximately double the size of what he used to be in. Aside from an extra powerhead to aerate the water, everything with the tank setup has remained the same.

When I performed a water quality test 3 days ago, it showed that the pH of the water at the new place is much lower, about 6.5 as compared to 7.5 at the old place. Does it make such a big difference?

Maybe just give him a few more days?

I'd give it a few more days as long as your water params are ok. He's likely re-adjusting.

probably a bit stressed from the move. ph shouldnt matter much. he should come around soon. good luck. what size is it?

10 days now and I have yet to see him eat. I do drop some food in at night because I know he's usually most active at night but since the move he sleeps day and night under the driftwood and I've only seen him go up for air TWICE in 10 days!

something seems very wrong but I don't know what... anyone have similar experiences? it's very bizarre and worrisome.

I had the same problem when I first got mine.... it took about a week and then everything was fine. The ph issue is stressful to these turtles in my experience because they like a higher ph but I have mine in a 6.5 ph with no problems.

Have you thought about putting up a divider and decreasing the tank space for him? You mentioned it doubled in size, this might contribute to his stress. Other reptiles experience the same thing...

I have a few fish coming this friday (crossing my fingers) and it wouldn't be good for me to divide the tank (especially since all the filtration system is on one side of the tank, so if divided, one side would be a raging torrent while the other would be a stagnant pool of water).

It's very unusual because he sleeps day AND night.... something he has never done before. Normally he is active at night but will always come out for food no matter what.

I do have a small 10g tank that I can setup but I'm afraid moving him around might only contribute to his withdrawn behavior.

Mine once went on a hunger strike for much longer than 10 days. I think it was close to 2-3 months without him eating at all. This is after he had been in my tank for about a year eating 4-5 times per week. Eventually I threw some grapes in and he ate them right away. The day after that he went back to eating algae wafers. I wouldn't worry too much about it

Yeah, I raised this one since 2.5" back in March 09 so it's been over a year now with no issues whatsoever.

I'm somewhat relieved that you have had a similar experience, I suppose I will change the food from day to day (I know he loves shrimp and worms) and see what happens next.

No fungus or signs of infection?

Eyes are clear?
