ok, so in my 10gal grow out, i have 2 pike cichilds, 1 pelco, 2 jewels, this being only for a 1-2 months until i move then set-up a nice big tank for the living room. anways, i had picked out a red jewel and a turqoise jewel, well they had babys, have no clue what i am doing, i got the jewels and the fry into a egg fry type netted box contraption i got from petco, what do i need to do to keep them alive and keep the fighting between the other and the jewels down, they never fought until this happened. is it ok to keep the jewels with there babys or will they eat them, what do i feed them, i bought liquid food, but they wont touch it, the fish are on bloodworms,

im seaching still, as stated i am out of town alot so i havent been on here alot lately, been trying to get my car done, tuned and into storage.

but anyways, i have a 35gal. but the 9 inch wolf is in there, the pike wont last 2 seconds in there. that is also a grow out tank.

any help would be nice. should i keep them and try abd save the jewel babys, sell em, keep em, worth anything, i got the jewels for pretty much free. just so happens i am good at picking breeding pairs, i think my pikes may be a pair as well.

thank you for your help.

Doesn't sound like your setup really to raise them. So you got both Jew parents and fry in a netted box inside the 10 gallon? well the 10 gallon tank already is small and now there in a netted box which is way even smaller. I might have just let them all stay free in the tank. The parents would usually do a good job of keeping the Pikes away. Or just let the parents loose in the tank and keep just the fry in the net. Or even better go buy another 10 gallon tank only. They don't cost that much for tank only. Set it up with a sponge filter. You'll have to do daily water changes till the sponge builds up bacteria but you'll be changing the water daily anyways. Use water from the 10g they came out of.

That liquid food sold in stores is crap. If you want to try to keep the fry alive hardboil an egg and get the cooked yoke. Break off small pieces off the yoke and dissolve in water. A small water bottle works great. Shake up the yoke in the bottle and feed that to the fry. Save the rest in a plastic bag in the fridge. You can also feed them finely chopped tubifex worms or blackworms whichever is sold at your LFS. Chop them with a razor blade rinse it through a brineshrimp net to washout the blood.
Good luck
