Ok well it all started in a land far far away... ok no serioulsy, the fish laid eggs for the first time as a couple. Just like everyone said 3 days later the eggs hatched. About 30% of the eggs died and turned white, but I think the surviving 70% ate all the dead eggs. Again just like everyone said about a week after that I had free swimming fry. Must have been serioulsy 300+. (by the say it's a 10" female and 5 or 6" male alone in a 150 gallon) They became free swimmers on a saturday, and then the following friday monring I went away for the weekend(last weekend). I came home on Sunday and I noticed there were only like 20 or 30 fry left.:irked: I was a little frustrated but whatever. Today I notice maybe 5 if that. What could have caused them all to die??? I was feeding crushed flakes and cichlid pellets which I ground very finely, like sand. I never really saw them come to the top to eat though. I also tried glass worms and blood worms a few times and nothing. The parents were not snacking on them either so I don't know what could have happend. Water Parems are perfect like usual, ammo 0 trite 0 and trate between 10 and 15. temp is 80. One thing I did notice is that when they just became free swimmers, the sworm of fry were eating the algae off the glass of the tank. You can actually see spots that they cleaned. Anyone have any ideas????? please some help for next time because I realy wanna grow out a batch.

I have been feeding my fry astons baby brine shrimp in it comes in a small jar it is amazingly easy my pink convict short body fry are 5 days old and eat the stuff like crazy 3 times a day. try that also try taking out the rents i am betting they are eating them i had to take out the male from my tank.

sorry but what fry were they again?
is it the jag pair on ur 150?

if so. next time they breed, siphon the free-swimming frys and put them in a grow out tank to prevent their parents from culling most of them.
a 10 gallon for them would suffice.

Check inside your filter? Thats the most common place that they end up. Especially if its a hob filter and you dont put some kind of sponge or prefilter over the intake.

I second this. The filter is the culprit in many cases of missing fry. Sorry
