I have fry from a pair of Convicts and and JDs. I was notified that the mother helps them out getting to free swimming, but I wittnessed the mom eating them so i moved the fry into a fry tank I have! Can I move them back or just one mom and shell take care of the other couples fry?

The best way to raise fry is by setting up a growout tank.............An average tank size is 55g-60..........Lot of people use 20g tanks..........50% water changes everday for the first two weeks..........Use a sponge filter because a regular power filter will suck up the fry.............Usually the fry will soak up their eggs sack within 5-7 days.............feed the fry baby brine shrimp(bbs)...........

I can do that! So after they hatch and become free of the egg (Wigglers) it takes arouns 5-7 days for them to free swim? Do they need the mother for that? (I moved mine out when i witnessed it swallowing eggs!

The fry do not need parental care at all if you have the basics down of maintaining growout tank(I just gave you the simple guidlines)....Most poeple let the first one or two spawns to be raised with the parents because it increases the trusting bond between mom and dad.......I just siphon the wigglers right out of the tank into the growout..Enjoy....Post pix...........

Ohhh okay I see! Well i messed up taking the parents out then, it was their first batch! For both pairs... I will take pictures right now!

If the mom is eating eggs that usually means she picking out the bad eggs. That's her job if they are fertile then you shouldn't worry much. First time parents usually eat or kill their fry cause they don't know better.

I say that because my #3 Pair did not eat their first brood, but did eat their 2nd brood.
You would think it would be reverse, but it wasn't.
I don't know why, but that is what happen. This time I am forced ( more or less ), to leave the fry with the parents. So its a waiting game for now.
* I though we were getting pictures.......... maybe not ! :irked:
