Hey, my JDs bred a little over a week ago, thefry hatched on Saturday and now its wednesday and the fry arent free swimming yet :WHOA:
Is something wrong? apparently they are supposed to start free swimmming in 3 days???
theanks for any help

chekc your temperature

start feeding immediately, you should offer food withing 3 days from spawn

there either starving or its too cold, 7 days is a long time maybe there not developed enough from the cold- temp should be 80 plus during breeding

OMG thanks sooooo much!
I went to my aquaruim just after you sad that and checked the temp....21degrees C/68F
Im surprised my fish are still alive! all the fry are still wriggling and over night the tank has raised to 24C luckily! lol, i was wondering why the pictus cat was acting like a normal fish!
But i think i might have gotten away with it, the fry are alive (well most of them, i cant see them all theyre still in a ball) And my archer and JD parents are ok. Cheers.

Good, the temp is going up....slowly and the parents are separating the free swimming fry from the ones which cant. I also got some fry food, "Wardley Small Fry"

yea start feeding once the temp is a solid 78

ive had a similar "accident" with my gachuas, thought the temp was fine but my heater malfunction and they dropped eggs at 67-69degrees F , the male got killed after this....
