Hi, I am going to be setting up my 15 gallon aquarium as a fry tank in a little bit, and have some questions first.
1. bare bottomed or sand?
2. plants, rocks, decorations?
3. filtration?
4. food????

I say bare bottomed with some broad leafed plants and hiding places. Sponge filters are always a good bet for fry and are cheap. What type of fish?

1. Bare bottom for ease of cleaning
2. Not necessary- can see them better without.
3. Sponge filter is safest and are proficient
4. BBS until they are big enough to eat other foods.

Absolutely sponge filters and bare tank otherwise so you can feed to excess and easily remove uneaten food and poop. For babies I like the Hydro-Sponge. Comes in two types - the original sponges are very fine and great for fry because htey develop a nice film of algae and microbes to snack on and will suck up any unhatched eggs that go in with your BBS. I haven't tried the new 'pancake' style they make as a stackable to give the fry places to hide and feed but i like the concept. Jehmco has good prices on these.

1. bare bottomed or sand?
bare bottom because it is easy to see where the debris is to siphon out when doing water changes.........
2. plants, rocks, decorations?
no decoartions at all...keep simple.......
3. filtration?
first five weeks use an airstone because the suctuion of any filter will be too great for any wiggler or fry to ecscape........
4. food????BBS.......baby brine shrimp is the best staple for any fish fry for the first 8-12 weeks of life after hatching..............

+1 this is the best basic setup for just about any fry tank. I like Microworms instead of BBS easier to cultivate constant supply.
