Hey I just have a couple of quick questions about the 20 gallon high tank I just set up for growing out fry. My first question is in regards to my lighting, I have a little hood set up for 25 watt incandescent bulbs which I have decided to convert to 5 watt compact fluorescent bulbs. (The water was evaporating pretty quickly when I used to use this tank and I figured that the reduced heat from the cfl's would help this time.) My question is, does anyone know if I decide to use a high kelvin output for a colder light if it would have any negative effect on my south american or central american cichlids? My only other question regarded the cloud that has entered my tank overnight. I set it up a few days ago, then added about 40 guppies and some rocks from my established tank in hopes to get the cycle moving. Not sure if that's actually effective, I just thought I remembered something about adding hardy fish that can eat and poop to get nitrates (or trites) building up. I'm sure it has something to do with the additions and I'm not too worried, just curious. Thanks.
