So I got about 15 Festae fry from a friend of mine, they've been in a breeder net in my 40Gal planted tank, obviously I can't grow them out in there with my Apisto's so I picked up a 30 gallon to grow them out in for the next few months. In preperation for this I purchased a sponge filter a little over a month ago and it's been running in the planted tank since to aid in bb growth. I'm doing water changes tomorrow and plan on using some of the water to start the 30.
So I'll be using the established sponge filter in a bare bottom 30 with the water I remove tomorrow (50% aged and 50% new) to fill it. My question is do you think that I'll have to cycle the tank before I move the fry in, seeing as how both the filter and 50% of the water will be aged?
