I just did something really REALLY dumb today.
I noticed yesterday that my 30 gallon had ick BADLY. So, I took out the filter cartridge (because it had activated carbon) and treated the tank. 12 hours later, I was feeding my newly hatched cichlid fry in my 5 gallon and I happened to see the cartridge. Without thinking, I shoved it directly in the baby tank as a food-source. 10 minutes later, I removed it because I remembered that it came from the tank that had ick!
Do the ick spores live on filter cartridges?
What are the odds that my babies will become infected with ick?
Will the babies eat the little ick cilliates instead of becoming infected?
Other than raise the water temp to 86 degrees, what else can I do?
Can I use salt and treatments, and what effect will they have on my shrimp and snails whihc are also in the tank?
Thanks!
