I just did something really REALLY dumb.
My 30 gallon aquarium had ick pretty badly yesterday morning, so I took out the filter cartridge (had carbon) and treated the tank. Later that day, I saw the cartridge and placed it in directly into my 5 gallon, which contains newly hatched cichlid fry. I did this so that they could feed off it. I took it out 10 minutes later realizing that I just introduced ick into the fry tank!
What are the odds that some of my fry now have ick?
Could ick have been trasmitted via a cartridge?
Will the fry eat the free-swimming ick?
Will heating the aquarium to 86 degrees alone prevent a full outbreak?
Will chemicals harm the fry, snails, or shrimp that live in the tank?
Thanks,
~Dan
