Is 96 degrees too high for reproduction? If so, what should I reduce it to?

most likely yes, what fish are you talking about? Because I have bred discus in 90*, even guppies can go with the higher temps... but some really don't like it.

80-86 would be better...IMO 96 is too hot....

stick with low to mid-80's. This will promote higher metabolism and faster growth.

wow thats like off the charts hot. Why? I would just stick with 80 even if your not trying to breed.
