Description:
3.5 year old bagarius Yarelli goonch catfish. Rare fish and even rarer at this size. He's 24 inches long from head to tail not counting it's really long streamers. He was raised from 6 inches. Currently feeding him market fresh tilapia. Fish is approaching to big to stay in the tank. The biggest worry is he is able to bust the tank he is in. He was raised with predator tank mates so he should be fine with other fish in the tank. I would like it to go to a hi.e that is able to house him for the remainder of his life. I'm not particularly interested in shipping because it's very difficult to ship a fish of this size let alone one this sensitive.

A wow-looking fish!!! Really.

I'd be willing to drive for it to Indiana from FL

[1] if it was free and

[2] if I had any goonch experience and if I didn't think it's a huge risk.

I am under impression that goonch drop dead for no good reason more often than not, and here there'd be a good reason...

It'd be in a 8'x4' rubber liner pond on wheels inside my Dodge Grand Caravan in ~200 gal of water...

I have never even tried to raise a single goonch for the above-mentioned reason.

you should try it someday, I'm assuming from other threads that you are very experienced in catfish so go for it. maybe not a 400$ one.

That was something that happened in the past. I don't think that is the case anymore. I'm pretty sure that was something out of the hobbyist control back then and has since faded away.

I live in louisville but can't afford to buy/house that fish... damn

What's your take, guys, if any?

IDK if I ave missed any big goonch experts, so please alert me if I have...

How sensitive are they at this size?

How do they transport?

Mine was sensitive to change. It would go a few weeks without eating if I moved it tank to tank. It also was sensitive to temp changes. Mine did not like cooler water. 78f was min. I moved mine about an hour or so and it seemed to handle it well.

I know there were alot of fish sp that when they first hit the market with any gusto alot of people lost them. Little knowledge was known about them and everyone wingged it. Now I feel with current knowladge and so many around it is t as big of am issue. Most of the people that loose them now is due directly to their own errors.

So sensitive yes, randomly gonna die on you without reason, I feel not.

Mine was 12", I sold it recently as it started getting agressive with a cat 2-3x its size both in mass and length. So I can't say first hand on larger then that.

Op don't mind skyeboy from what I have seen around he seems to fit the last part of his name. With lots of negativity to boot.

Unless the OP can specifically state WHY goonches are no longer prone to sudden death, then I'm going to say that claim is BS. These fish are profoundly delicate and personally, I wouldn't take the risk on this one, Viktor.
