nice ornate, whats the difference between male and female? and how do you distinguish the difference? maybe i should take mine out and measure them like that, i can never get them to stop wiggling around though...

When you take your poly's out of the water to measure and photograph, keep the safety of the fish in mind. Net it, then hold the net out of water for a few seconds while the fish wiggles in the net (don't hold it close to anything because the fish could hit it's head if you hold the net too close to the lid).
Then, once the poly is calm, lie it on a flat surface (I prefer the tank lid while still on the net, so that if he starts going crazy I just lift the net), then measure.
The poly will even let you touch it (try not to as much as possible) if you need to straighten it out to make getting an accurate measurement easier. Avoid using metal tape measure because the edges are often too sharp so if your poly thrashes, it could cut itself.

the anal fin? hmmm is there a specific size of length they must be in order to sex determine the sex?
