I was referred to this site from AquariaCentral in hopes of finding these guys a home:

I recently cracked a 30gal tank and in a quick effort to replace it ended up buying a tank that came with fish from CL. After having the fish IDed and having various dicussions on several forums, I've decided there is no way I can house these fish properly in the long-run. So, I have for sale:

(1) Approx. 5in Bala Shark

(1) Approx. 6in Columbian Shark

(1) Approx. 7in Red-Bellied Pacu

I don't know what to charge for these fish, having really only wanted the tank to begin with (which was bought for $40), I guess I'd like to make some of that money back. So, it's really just make an offer and take them (maybe like $5 or $10 a fish, or is that too much for these species?). Or, if you'd like... we can trade. I keep crayfish, African Cichlids, shrimp, and plecos... So, I would be interested in more of any of those or anything that could be housed with them.

But ultimately, I'm just looking to get these guys an appropriate home since they didn't get it at their last home and they can't get it from me.

Oh, also... this would be pick-up only (I'm in Essex County, NJ) unless you can show me how to ship fish this size safely (but I'd prefer not to).

Thanks!

i do have to tell you, pacu are generally very hard fish to get rid of, and are most likely one of the most posted about fish people give up for free. as im sure you've read, most people cant house a pacu at half size, nevermind full sized.

good luck with trying to find someone to take him. you may unfortunetly be forced to keep him longer than you want. and be warned, around 7-8" is when they seem to hit their growth spurt. you can literally see these guys grow day to day, until they reach around 18" or so, then it slows. that 7-8" fish could easily doule in size in the next couple months if taken care of well.

however, if your going to find someone to give him the best home, that has the room, you wont find many better tanks/fish keepers than here on MFK :)

:iagree: there was a guy trying to get rid of a large pacu by paying someone...
i dont know if he ever got rid of it... lol...

I think he ended up throwing it into the pond at the reptile shop. That's me prediction at least. Free that way.

Pacu are good eats, but yours is small. GL

Heh, well there's an idea... When he's finally too big for me to care for and I haven't found a home for him, mmm dinner. (Bah, I can't eat a pet... that just seems so wrong lol)
