Up for sale is my Payara Armatus, a super cool predator fish that impales its food before swallowing them. This species is also commonly known as the Vampire fish but there are a few out there. This one grows the largest of them all and was featured on River Monsters. Currently he's at about 6 and a half inches, in good health, and I am keeping him with a Tigerfish who shockingly enough gets along with quite well and has been for sometime. He is available for pickup in Newark, NJ (the good part lol) or I may be able to drop off if its within a reasonable distance. I'm asking $150 or BO Contact me with any question or to make arrangements at stevencapnj@yahoo.com . ~ Steven

Nice write up but where did you get it from, and, what does it eat?

I got it from a fellow enthusiast when it was quite young. These things will only eat live from what I was told so I never tried to teach it otherwise. I've only heard of one instance where someone actually trained one to eat fillet (dead fish) but never pellets.

They can be trained onto non live foods including pellets. There are a few members here who feed their armatus raw fish as well as pellets.Your offer is tempting but I'm not sure if I'm up to the drive from Philly or if mine will tolerate another armatus.

Bump for a good deal! Also krich is right they're fairly easy to train onto filet and shrimp but pellets are quite a bit harder but very doable. I had trained mine easier then I did my dats.

Depends how long has yours been alone krich? and how big is he? If he's of a similar size and there's ample room I think you'd be fine. I've kept groups of Arms pretty easily they only feign attacks by striking and then turning at the last moment from each other in my experience. Other Hydrolycus(Scombs,Tats), Rhaphiodons and SD's are a different story though as they seem to really hate them. Here's a 6 inch Raph after a Arm attack and a weeks worth of healing. I had six Raphs and the Arms ripped into each one.

wow u might be convincing me to keep him fellas, that is if I can get him on pellets. Krich I can do $125 if u come relatively soon, but thats with a twisted arm and just cause I like the Flyers lol

Koltsix mine is about fifteen inches and is maybe six inches from belly bottom to top side.He has been alone in his tank since the middle of the summer. If I were to get this other one I'd feel better letting it grow a little more in another tank before putting it in with my arm...and we all know that that wouldn't take very long...Sweet deal Steven but I think you should keep it a while longer and I'm almost certain you would come to really appreciate it,especially once it starts to eat less bothersome food(feeders).

Understood,good luck.
