If he's 15", what tank is he in? That tank can't be more than 10" wide.

Must be a holding tank, though. Because he looks to be in good health. Cool cat man.

Are you willing to ship? also noticed you mentioned you had him since 2in. I'm just curious as to how long you've had him and his growth rate. Just for reference as I cats myself and my zz's are not the fastest growing cats compared to my rtc's. Always interested as to how other fellow aquatic keepers experiences are.

As of now, I'm going to wait for a local buyer/trader. This is for the fish's sake since I don't have the experience of shipping, especially in the winter months. In terms of growth rates, you are correct these cats don't grow at the explosive rates of a red tails. Although I purposely pumped my red tail and elevated the temp for maximum growth rate, it was 38 in and 29lbs in only 30 months (2,000 gallon tank). In comparison the Jau is 15in at about 20 months. But the Jau will win out in the long haul over red tails given it's enormous potential. I've keep this one at around 76F and feed every other day, so I'm sure you could increase the growth rate if you wanted. My guess is that, just with any other fish, the Jau will have a growth spurt (like our teenage years) at some part of it's life cycle.
thanks Jason

The reason I'm selling this fish is because I have decided to turn my 2,000 tank into a catfish rescue tank. It pains me know the fate of 95% of these monster fish which get sold in stores (red tails, tiger shovel nose, iridescent sharks, pacus, arrows etc). I will offer a lifetime home to these "unwanteds" until I'm at capacity in the tank and can't take any more.

Although I've read stories of Jaus getting along with other fish at young ages, they ideally should be isolated in their own tanks given their "pit bull" like temperaments to others. I've had a lot of catfish in my 25 years of keeping them and will say that lb for lb, these are one of the toughest SOBs of the catfish world. A Jau would easily take on a red tail at twice it's size...and that's saying something. It will attack nets and syphon hoses like they are arch enemies.
thanks Jason

good luck with this! but please refrain from using pitbull as a way of stating its aggressive characteristic its not right .

nice looking jau in that 2000 gal this thing could grow up to be a monster but that tank is being used for a better purpose which is highly commendable but anyway glws also I have a two foot redtail and 18" rtc x tsn if your interested
