FUGUs in fresh?

Hope it's not a stupid question, but I want to do due diligence in my research before purchasing. And I'm not, at this point, willing to go salt or brackish. Anyone had success keeping Fugus in fresh, indefinitely? I've found them called Takefugu puffers and other various common names, my LFS has some, about 4" - 5" very tempting. Thanks keepers.

Not in fresh for life. If memory serves me, there are a few VERY rare fw fugus. Most require brackish to salt. Also they like cooler water.

I have a fugu(red saddle)in straight FW. He's doing great.I know that the vendor that my lfs got him from kept them on sraight FW as well. Very agressive towards any tank mates.

How long have you had him?

Most need to be turned marine by adulthood. I think there is a pygmy puffer that is fw for life.
