Have a question on doing a full water change.
In my 55 I will be doing a full water change and need to know if a 5.5 for a tiger oscar is okay for about 1.5 hours estamation. All other fish will be divided between a 6 and a 2. Extra 10 gallon cracked so this is all I have.

Fish are in signiture line.
Fish range from 3" to 6"

Hasn't been done at all and tank as ran for 2.5 years

The biggest vacum I have is for up to 10 gallons.

I just did a full water change but only because I had to turn the tank around and I just finished fishless cycling with nitrate readings off the charts.

dont do a full w/c for many reasons. if the water conditions of the tank are much different than the tap water, you'll put your fish into shock. you need to do it slowly over a period of 1-2 months to let your fish adjust to the new water.

I would go buy a 30Gallon plastictub or trash can(they are cheap and good to have as emergency tanks) Fill the trash can with 25-30gallons of tank water. move the fish to the container. Do what you need to do with the tank. Refill the tank with the old water and transfer the fish. Add the new water to refill the tank. To the fish this is no different then a 50% water change.
