So what different or fun ways do you guys feed your aros? Once a week my silver gets 10-12 crickets. I have some fake lilly pads in the tank so I release the crickets onto the lilly pads. half jump into the water, so he picks them off first. After, he then cruises by the edge of the lilly pads and picks off the crickets that he can see(usually at the edge of the pad).

Tried to take pics, but is alot like trying to capture lightning. I got a couple after the strike, and one before the strike(this one was for a fd krill, was outa crickets). I'll try again next week after he is in his new tank. May have to go with video though.

when my smaller aro was about 5", i created a jumper kit out of plexi-glass that was about 2ft tall. so it left area for the aro to be able to jump. i had a plant that would hang over the open area inside the jumper kit n i would put krickets or krill on the plants, n the aro would go crazy for them. jumping left n right, higher n higher as he grew. til i got scared he would hurt himself n i didnt want him to be to used to jumping cuz i dont want him doing it now that hes bigger... this also was used on my archer fish.

now all i do is throw in shrimp 1 by 1 n watch them thrash for it

My jar seems to get all excited when I feed him crickets. He loves to charge to the surface viciously attacking the crickets. In the process he soaks anyone that is within two feet of the aquarium. It can be intense but fun to watch.

I like to thaw out a little of the bloodworm cube, and hold on to one end and entice my silver with it, he has eaten from my hand a few times. He is only like 6" I'll stop hand feeding him here soon, but it is fun.

Why stop hand feeding? I used to hand feed my 24" arows all the time back in the 80's. I would hand feed them gold fish. Arowana's do seem to go through an adolecent stage between 6 - maybe 14 inches where they are a little unpredictable to hand feed. But other than that, I can think of no reason to stop.

Very nice ways you guys devised..I just throw in the food and watch them grab it, with the silvers, and as to the black, I just put the crickets or whatever in, and pray that the disdainfull fish accepts them...it is irritating to watch a non food crazy fish ( allthough I know this is often the case with blacks )

cool.....i think i'll try to capture mine trying to eat my feet

I like it when the tinfoil barb grabs a piece of shrimp intended for Aro and he dives down to the bottom of the tank and takes it from him opening his mouth like a basking shark.

I would hand feed my aro if he would only keep his teeth off my fingers:irked:
