I have a new frontosa tank and there is two pieces of driftwood in there that have a greyish fungus on them. Anyone know what it could be from and if it is ok for the tank. Any help would be great

I've had the same thing with pieces of wood in my tank... you can boil them to kill the fungus, but honestly I've left them in my tanks with no ill effects at all.

I get it from time to time. My pleco usually devours it within a day of it popping up. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to spread.. I heard its a colony of bacteria, but thats only what I heard

ya just keep an eye on your fish, anything starts going weird I would remove it. Do you have a pleco or anything of the sort?

ya see if they touch it, if not it shouldnt bug your tank but if dont like the look up if just take it out and wipe it off

my mopani wood has grown this stuff from time to time and have wondered the same the plecco didn't seem to want to eat it but it disappears by it's self after a few days.
Not sure if it is a water parameter thing or some kind of seasonal fungus.
