Hey everyone, I recently picked up a 1.5-2" NTT a fortnight ago and was told it was eating guppies, chopped up fresh prawn and pellet. I have been putting in hikari canivore pellets and bloodworm daily since then which he pays no attention to. I put a flagtail prochilodus in to entice him to eat as he readily accepts both but still nothing. I've tried a piece of prawn and he ate it straight away but i was told this isn't a good stable diet for them. Just wondering if this is correct because i dont want to lose him. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I actually have the same question with you, want to know whether prawns or market shrimps are a good diet to Dats.

Let's wait and hope that someone will educate us. :)

I want to know if there is any difference between shrimp n prawn aswell but i dont think there is, only difference would be if they were cooked or not. I have read on the net that its harmful as a diet but every so often is okay just want to see if their is any truth behind that?

I just buy the frozen bags. Same ones I eat. Raw works great. Been feeding all my fish shrimp and pellets for years. Fat and happy.

Thanks man, you've answered almost all of my questions about feeding these dats :)

Just one last thing, what kind of pellets can I feed them?
Specifically what kind of pellets.

No such thing as a fussy tiger its just weak owners :naughty:

give it what you want it to eat not the other way around

forget my last post

if he is eating prawn thats fine for now try him on other foods when he gets bigger

yea datnoids can be very picky when it comes to food. some will take anything right away, and some would be very picky if they were fed live feeders by the previous owner or store.
