As stated above I will, in the next couple of months begin building my first monster tank, at 10'x4'x4' it's abit of an upgrade to my current 75litre tank. Anyway, the problem I have is what to put in it. I plan on setting up 2 120g grow out tanks so I want to start with small juveniles and watch them grow. My definite occupants that any other tank mates must co-exist with are 3 IT datnoids, Florida gar, 5 or so eartheaters(not sure what type yet) various bichirs(ornate and sens for sure), irwini catfish, and black ghost knife. So that being the case, I'm open to suggestions.

black arowana some rays, a big tt eel and a big moramid!-) sounds awesome, is it gonna be glass or a plywood tank?

Ray tank with black aro and pbass is what I would do but I would just focus on rays and the aro up top
That size tank is perfect for rays

It's going to be metal frame with pond liner and 2 acrylic viewing windows, 1 8'x3' at the front and a 4'x3' at the right hand side, I was considering an aro but I don't want anything much over 30" long, not sure what sizes aros get. And the rays have crossed my mind, especially hysterix as they are one of the smsller rays but there expensive and from what I've read kinda hard to keep, and even harder to keep healthy. Pbass are very difficult(for me) to find, maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I was interested in them for a while. I've got a while before anything starts so I'm just throwing ideas around. Would a ray be ok with what I want to put in there, mainly the dats and bichirs, over read of rays mauling bichirs cause they occupy the same rank space.

I always suggest you get what YOU like. It doesn't matter what I like, or Bob, or Jim or anyone else. Good luck with the build. Should be fun.

Just put in all what you like ;). But I recommended sen or other upper jaws bichirs going to be too small in your tank (except ornate and weeksii. Teug, yeah, but if you can find one big enough). I would go with aros, gars, dats, (prob nile perches and pbass) and absolutely a lot of lower jaws bichirs :D. Have fun! Cant wait to see the build!
