Hello I have a 210 gallon aquarium (96"L x24"W x21"T) that I plan to set up hopefully within the next six months and was looking for some ideas on stocking since this is the first tank I've over 60 gallons. I have a red spotted gold sev that's about 5" or 6" (with fin) and an ornate bichir that's between 7" and 9" in a 60gal and a 3" harlequin lancer catfish in a 20gal to put on size. I plan to run a fx6 canister for filtration. I'm still trying my stocking plan I know I want an ebjd and another bichir or catfish but not sure which yet, I've been looking into datnoids and crenicichla zebrina and I'm wondering if they could work with this setup I'm considering the stocking being 1 red spotted gold sev 1 ornate bichir 1 ebjd 1 harlequin lancer catfish 1 ntt datnoid 1 crenicichla zebrina and 1 more bichir or med size catfish like bolt or vulture cats (12" to 20") would this work? The datnoid and zebrina are interchangeable if having both of them would overstock the tank too much. advise or suggestions would be appreciated

Id definitely pass on the vulture. 210 would be too small for one. I had one in a 300 and at 13 inches i realized how much room they really need. Real active fish and gets kind of nervous when confined. If you can get a bolt i would jump on it. Better looking than vultures and stay at a perfect size.

Ya I was thinking that the vulture would need a far bigger tank after some more reading on how big they grow and how active they are especially after seeing videos of them. Do you have any experience with bolt cats if so how active are they?

Ive never owned one but from my understanding is they top out at 12 to 13 inches. I could be wrong. Check the cat section. I forgot the guys name within the last month hes updated a bolt thread

I would not recommend to keep a datnoid due to tank size. The harlequin and zebrina are both aggressive fish. I have a sveni, a smaller species, in a tank close to your size and im having problems with him and 1 ctenopoma. I don't really recommend to put a lot of other fish that swim in the same water levels with a crenicichla in such a size tank. one or two other fish in the mid levels of your aquarium could be possible but more I wouldn't try and not such a big fish as a datnoide.

The harlequin is also a really active fish. I think that our bichir would dislike this fish in a tank that is just big enough for him.

Harlequin lancer catfish information isn't easy to find so I don't know what I should expect it to be like when it's grown, right now he just hangs out in his hiding spot maybe it's just because it's still so small. I considered the zebrina because I read some posts from people that keep them that said they were peaceful and only showed aggression towards fish that are aggressive to them, I've only heard of one case of an aggressive zebrina which the zebrina killed a stingray but I never read the original post and only saw someone else talking about reading it so I don't know the details. I had read that 6'x2'x2 was the recommended tank size for keeping a NTT datnoid which my tank is 2.5" to 3" inches shorter in height but 2' longer in length so I considered a datnoid could be kept. I'll do some more reading on the datnoids and crenicichla zebrina along with other possible tankmates.

That's an interesting custom size, did you order it that way?

No I bought it used with heaters, two big led lights boards which you can customize the light output, a stand a sump and pumps for the sump and a Neptune system for $600

You should check with the guys in the dat section. From what i understand your tank should be fine.
