I plan on getting a 75gallon tank in the near future and was wondering if this setup would be good to go.

1xGT (male most likely, 4" right now)
1x polypterus delhezi 5" right now)
~10x Giant Danios

The GT and delhezi get along great, never really bother eachother in the 55 they're in right now. The del can get food easily enough, my GT doesn't have a particular fondness of the krill I throw in there (surprisingly) and the del gobbles it all up. Would there be any room for anything extra? Possibly a Firemouth or Severum if I swap the dithers out in the 75? Do dithers really play a large role in the tank equation? Or should I shoot for a 90 gallon that would give some extra height if I wanted to get another big fish (I love the way some severums look, I never realized it lol).

My GT is quite passive at the moment, I'm not sure how much longer it will last...but for now he's friendly. Hopefully if the GT and del live together long enough they'll get that neither of them are competition for each other.

Thanks guys for any advice.

You could try a serv or FM, but can't guarentee it will work. Your GT may be passive now, but that may change with new cichlid tank mates. Cichlids tend to be more aggressive to other cichlids then other fish.

I know that for sure, I have some JDs in there now (I know, I'm trying to find a good place for them, they aren't in my final setup, long story on how I got them) and they put the GT on the lower end of the totem pole so to speak.

I'm not sure how I feel about keeping just the male JD with the GT, I think I'd like a severum versus the JD. They get some pretty good looking ones regularly at my LFS.

if you could get a 90 go for it bigger is always better with sa/ca cichlids. the convicts i added as dithers made a huge difference with the target aggression from my gt towards my dempsey.
