I would like to add a larger guy for my 150 (6'x18"x24") or my 220 (6'x2'X30")

I have compatability questions...

150 has Festae (Juvi), Grammode (2.5"), and Mota (2.5") as its main residents, the 220 has Mota, Jag, Loiselle, Cuban (Juvi), and Carpinte, what would be more acceptable for a possible Pike roommate?

What would be the best cren for these guys, remember I am researching before I buy one....

I'm leaning toward a Xingu (Orange Pike)....

Opinions??

you would have to watch the pikes with your smaller fish as i hear they will eat anything that fits. if it is just you want one tough enough to stand up to your brutes in the long run without killing them, xingu 1 could prolly work. i dont think it would be murderous but depending on the size of your current fish you may want to have a place for your pike to get away. gl

Go with Crenicichla vittata...Jeff Rapps has them right now, relatively small, pretty cheap. They are a unique, great looking pike. Relatively more mellow, but still able to dish it out if needs be. Only prob. would be the grammodes as its pretty small, and I hear they grow pretty slow. Pikes aren't slow growers, and if it can out grow the fish, there is also the ultimate risk it might eat them. Thats with any pike...;). Btw, the attached picture is of a vittata, I believe it is one of the males that Vin Kutty brought back with him. ;)

Holey Crap Peanut! That is beautiful, I am not a card carrying member of the "Rapps Club" Personal preference, I don't know If I can find these anywhere else, although, I could ask nate at massive aggression, rob at keystone aquatics, or Nick at NE Cichlids......

Im thinking that maybe, I let the boys grow a touch, then get a cren in about another month of grow time.......I can get the oranges real small, what/how fast do they grow??

Thanks man~
