  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks awesome, I wish I could set another tank up for caribes!!

no suggestions for your tank. but.... caribes/cannibals love to eat eachother, i ordered five last year and now i have 2 6 inch fatty caribe. if your not home all day have someone throw some fish fillets in there every 2 or three hours to reduce the risk of cannibalism. im looking for tips to keep the cannabalism down. im thinking lower temps and lots of feeding, possibly dithers in there as well.. but im no expert anyone with alot of caribe experience speak up! how can we reduce the cannabalism?? oh you may not wanna go throught the trouble but your gravel is gonna get very very dirty when i used gravel with my caribe the water got cloudy sooooo quick, i would scoop that gravel out asap and swith to a light layer of sand. since aquascape gets the caribe monday or tuesday you have time to switch to sand..i also have babies comin my way

honestly their in a 125 gal and i have two xp4 filters which keeps my water crystal clear, i also have a eco-aqualizer, so i dont have this problem. i had 14 babies in my 180 that i grew to like 5 inches in like 11 months, i lost two and that's because they were getting the short end of every meal and eventually got eaten cause they didn't grow. i kept my temp at 80 degrees, just keep them well fed i've been keeping them for years. the key also is to have lots of cover at a young size, thats why you see the the plants, and the floating cover. when they get like 4'' add a powerhead for a current and for your water cirrculation.:headbang2:headbang2

oh yeah sand ruins filters buddy, also i'm a gravel man unless you have rays. plus good bacteria has a good place to dwell besides your filter media, so go with gravel buddy trust me. i like the river pebble look.

sand hasnt ruined any of my filters, except my ac 110 wich was not designed for it, gravel will hold besides good bacteria alot of bad bacteria no matter how many filters you have, to clean your gravel thoroughly you will have to move all of your decor around quite often, sand is a very good substrate because any waste that hits your sand will rest on top of it and eventually rise into the water column if you have good circulation. with gravel it will get into the nooks and crannies and stay there. trust me buddy go with sand... and your 125 will not hold 10 caribes if you manage to keep all alive, so im assumeing you plan on upgradeing very soon??

Looks good. Personally I'm not big on the skulls. Nothing wrong with a good skull especially in an amazon tank, but they're not proportionate and I like my tanks to look all natural. The plants look realistic though, and the ones on top are creating some shade for them. I'm sure your piranha will be quite comfortable. Post some more pics when you have it populated. :)

monster pets its in philly, and like i said i'm a gravel man, i just do water changes and keep up with gravel siphon. besides i don't like white sand for p's i like the realistic look. i added the skulls because they eat s### down to the bone lol:headbang2
