Future crs tank !

Driftwood. CRS like softer water for breeding.
I see you live in Hawaii. Carefull brah, Crystal Red Shrimps are illegal here and if you get caught you will be fined and probably get your shrimps confiscated. No go posting them around for sale on forums or craigslist. That's just asking for trouble. Keep it on the down. Plenty people got busted lately. Funny, even though their illegal/banned PLENTY people/everybody got them.

ahh man. I see that they're illegal now. you can go grab some jungle val, dwarf sag and spruce em up

Wow, can't believe even CRS are illegal in certain parts of the US... they can't possibly considered an invasive species can they? i mean they are hard enough to keep alive in a tank let alone in nature...

So true! The state is just afraid that someone will let them go and they will turn out to be just as invasive as the RCS are here. The streams are full of them and they outcompete the native shrimps here... Sounds cool eh? Streams full of RCS! Too bad they have reverted back to their natural color state and show only specles of red and some are even blue when caught. The speckles and blue coloration fade quickly as they settle and become less stressed.

To the op: Some driftwood and some moss would be nice in there and would provide some surface for the baby CRS to graze. Maybe an iwagumi style scape with some rocks. Anubias looks nice too... So many options!

Im surprised even RCS can survive the US weather... Then again i presume that Hawaii has some pretty nice weather year round?

But could you imagine a lake full of show quality CRS... That would be pretty amazing...

Yeah the weather is pretty nice year round. It doesn't get too cold here lowest maybe low 60's to upper 50's and that is very uncommon. It can get pretty hot into the upper 90's but I have been to Hong Kong in the summer and it was unbearable... The streams usually stay around the 70's to low 80's in stagnant areas. It would be awesome for someone to release some CRS into the streams to find out if they would multiply (there infested with neocardina anyways) but the DLNR guys or who evers in charge would have a hissyfit and no one is gonna do it when the lowest of the low grade of CRS here can sell for around 5$ each (even though their illegal here you can even find them at a couple pet stores!)... I can just imagine wading through the stream and finding a butt load of CRS. The water may be a bit too hard here though.

Aren't bee shrimp native to the pristine streams in Hong Kong areas? I've read at lest one of the streams in Hong Kong have native bee shrimps?

^ honestly im not sure? I think its more likely from China, since HK doesnt have that many freshwater streams / lakes, although still entirely possible...

Infact, now that you mentioned it, im going to ask my fav LFS in fish street over the weekend and see if he knows about this... Since hes a real shrimp / aquascape fanatic....
