i have a friend that bought 2 spotted gar because he thought they looked cool. he had no idea that they will be getting big quick and wont live off flake food. i have a 40 gal breeder tank and have been setting it up with graval, sand, and items i find naturally in the chatahoochee river. i also have several chat. native fish i have netted out of the river. these gar may or may not be spotted, but i will post pics as soon as i have them. about 2 days. i know i will need a bigger tank later on but am looking for tips on care, food, water quality, tankmates, ect. feeder fish are no problem, but what else can i feed these guys. they are about 5" now. other treads talk about shrinp. what kind of shrimp? dry mini? grocerystore? bait shrimp? can you gar owners plz help out with all you know about care for these guys?
