I have been out of FW for about 3 years now and once irene shut down my power for over a week I decided to break down my coral prop system and get back to the last time I enjoyed the hobby which was my silver aro and a few retics.
Now I've got a standard 180, xp4 and a marineland 360 all cycled with a 5-6" aro and Ive got a line on some GREAT prices on retics. I'm feeding the aro heavily as well as keeping 3 medium size comets to keep the bio load up to ensure a healthy bacteria culture when the rays arrive. Current WC schedule is 50% on Tuesdays and Saturdays and will be bumped to 50% on Tue, Friday, and Sunday once the retics are introduced.
Now for the question Ive gotten with my supplier and requested 6 rays, 2 males and 4 females. They will be wild caught at 4-6 inches, is that too many at this size for a 180? (2x300 gallon DIY ray ponds coming in the spring). I think I've got enough cansister filter for turnover and I'm running a coarse foam block and the rest of the xp4 is crammed with bio balls. The marineland is coarse, bio and then polishing pad. I also have a HOT 250 with nothing but bio-balls in it. What do you guys think?
