I had some filter problems about a month ago that was fixed with y'alls help, but ever since then, this green fuzzy (algae?) stuff has been growing on the glass. I've been changing the water religiously, the filter is working, and I've never seen this problem before. Three days after cleaning, it needs to be cleaned again. Am I overfeeding? Maybe the media in my filter needs to be changed? I have no idea what's up. Ideas?

Ok, I was cleaning the filter and turned it off for two minutes, then needed it back on for a sec and :bluuush: a bunch of organic matter came spurting out. Maybe that had something to do with it?

Sounds like your filters may need a clean? Or as mentioned high phosphates in your tank...

If its the latter, then you could add a phosphorus removal pad which helped my problem in the 200G

I've been trying to clean the filter every four weeks, but more often now that I've been having problems. And, I know I'm an idiot, but what about Phosphates? How do I test, get them, not get them, etc?

^ api makes a phosphorus test kit, as for what can cause it...

Maybe its already got high levels in the tap water, could be from foods being fed, filters etc...

As for how to remove it, as i said before, there are phosphorus removal pads you place in the filter which i foun does a bang up job... I think it was made by aquaone brand...
