Got my retic rays... both doing well eating good.. But the smaller ones stinger is fuzzy??? looks like if you have a piece of food rotting in the tank??? anyone help please?

Are they wild caught? I wonder if they had a tube on the stinger that has been removed
Sounds like a fungus or infection. Worth adding some pics here before you jump on any diagnosis.

I suspect the answer will be some aquarium salt, keep the water clean and wait for it to fall out. I suspect you may also be able to use a ray safe anti fungus.

Please add some more info along with an up to date ammonia and nitrite test using in date kits and not dip strips.

no mine is actually white fuzz... looks just like a rotting piece of food.... makes me want to gravel vac it.

As long as the fuzz on the barb don't spread to the ray tail it find, you can put non Iodized salt to keep the fungus from spreading toward the tail. 1 table spoon per 5 u.s gallon It should clear it up, or you can wait till the barb fall off in about 5-6 months. This mostly happen when people remove the cap on the barb it just a infection. Again it fine as long as the fuzz is stable.

I got a couple Wc and i can see the fuzz underneath the tube i tried my hardest to take the tubes off but no luck. I have taken them off before on smaller Wc rays. Do i guys think i should leave it or really force them off?

Cheon, I would try to take it off. My rays had the same problem I saw the fuzz growing out of each end off the cap on the barb. some time the shipper shove the cap on the barb too hard and scratch the skin around the stinger and cause it to get infected that why you can see fuzz. Don't let it spread to the onto the tail.

Hope they r fine good luck

I've never done it, but this method makes the most sense out of what I've heard.
Soak a towel in tank water & place it on your workspace
Place the ray on the towel & fold half of the towel over the ray to minimize movement while leaving the tail exposed
Hold the tail down using your thumb & forefinger & use a new, sterilized exacto blade to cut the tube from bottom to top
Treat area with iodine or methylene blue

granger.. I didn't get to read the post yet.. salt is best for keeping that fungus from spreading. If it moves to the tail itself then there are real alarms. Also you should keep a super close look on your water.. up your wc.. If I remember you said your only doing it once a week right?
