Can an archerfish live a full life in FW?
Whats the best food? Mines been eating only crickets but will accept small peices of shrimp. Is that good for a diet?
Thanks in advance.:)

well they could live in freshwater mine is still alive but if he lives in a brackish condition and you want him in a freshwater you must gradually decrease your salinity..they are very cool and also intelligent...there was once this instance that I saw him taking a spit on his automatic feeder knowing that that aparatus is giving him food hehehehe maybe he's hungry...keep him aerated..estuaries have alot of aeration remember...

Mine lived for 3.5 years in FW.. I knew nothing about brackish water.. But mysteriously Him and My Mono Argentea died within a couple weeks of eachother... I blamed disease.. Though My water never had brackish conditions:)

Well both of those guys need salt, especially the Mono. Some species of Archers can survive in fresh water, but all thrive in brackish water. I feed mine crix, bloodworms, krill, beefheart, and sometimes he eats pellets

Not quite true, the microlepis, and the lorentzi are not commonly found in brackish water.
The kimberleyensis is strictly freshwater.

I would keep it in Brackish water. I hear they do great in light brackish
