I have a G. Tile in my brackish tank along with 2 crazy fish, 2 zebra blennies, 2 brackish leaf fish, a flounder, a knight goby, and another unidentified goby that was marked as a mudskipper in the store but never goes on land (there are land areas for him in the tank though).

All of a sudden the Moray is going after my other fish. He has been eating krill with no problem and up until now hasn't been any trouble. But the other day he was chasing the knight goby and the mudskipper around alot, then gave up and went back to his cave.

Today, I just looked at the tank and saw that he had the mudskipper in his mouth, right behind it's gills. I managed to seperate them and fish out the moray as he immedietly went right after one of the blennies that went near him!

The mudskipper is way too big to be swallowed, and so far seems to be alright from the ordeal but its definitely stressed out. The knight goby and the blennies are probably too big to be swallowed for now but they could definitely get hilled by him making the attempt.

I dont know what to do with this guy. I don't have another tank to setup just for him. I dont really want to get rid of him, but iif I do decide to do so and if I take him back to the store they are going to set him up in freshwater as they don't have true brackish tanks.

Should I just try to feed him more? He's been eating about every other day. I try and offer him krill every day but he usually refuses it two days in a row. If I skip a day then he goes right for it again. He just ate late last night though and still felt the need to try and eat the mudskipper this morning, so I don't know if that will help.

morays are predators and even those species that don't specialize in eating fish will still eat smaller fish, especially those that are bite sized

Well, they arent really bite sized. They are all reasonably larger then the eels mouth. The Mudskipper is one of the largest fish in there, and the eel still decided to taste him.

try frzen silver sides he is trying to say hes bored of krill how would u like to eat the same old thing every dang day of the week

I'll give that a shot. I didnt want to keep him strictly on Krill as I figured that wouldnt be good for him in the long run. It just happens to be all I have right now. I was actually contemplating giving him some feeder guppies but at this point in time I dont think I want to entice him further to go after live prey.

If it's hunting, it's hungry. I'd up the diet as a start. And then look at keeping fish with it that aren't pry size items for it.

I know this is off-topic, but...
Do you have any pics of your "mudskipper?" I might be able to ID it for you. Pseudapocryptes elongatus comes to mind. It's a relative of mudskippers that seems to come out of the water ver rarely in captivity.

I have been meaning to take pics and post them here to try and get an ID. I'll try to do that tomorrow. I would like to know what species it actually is, or at least get a close guess.

Not only does it not come onto land but it also ignores crickets. It will eat brine shrimp and blackworms though.

Another thing, when it was in the shop it was originally labeled as "Fully Aquatic Mudskipper".
