Cali, no. FL only "converted" atlantic stingrays. Have not heard anything in particular about TN.

Since the others he asked about are states, I assumed he was talking about Louisiana.

And "converted" FW Atlantics don't live long or well at all. They do much better as marine rays.
Actually, the St. Johns River is populated by Atlantic Stingrays that live their entire lives in fresh water. I agree the converted ones are short lived. Their kidneys have to produce ungodly amounts of ammonia in the converting process. If the ammonia doesn't kill them, supposedly kidney failure will. :(

There is a guy in Ft. Pierce, Florida that has been selling them as freshwater on Aquabid. Unfortunately, Ft. Pierce isn't anywere near the St. Johns. They have tons of them in the intercoastal water way but that is full salt. :(

I am aware of the St John's River population. But those aren't offered for sale, and even if they were, the common FW captive set ups can't deal with the ammont of waste they are producing to live in FW. The ones we see pop up are really marine animals dripped over to FW. Typical captive FW environments cannot properly offset the increased waste production like they have adapted. They produce roughly 10 times more waste in freshwater. So if you keep one in a 400 galon marine tank, that would translate to a 4,000 gallon freshwater tank. People need to be aware of that instead off falling for poor sales tactics.
