I tried to find something online that would list the penalties of keeping or trying to obtain illegal fish, I was unsuccessful. I would assume that if you do not have the fish anymore than there is no proof of it's existence. If the original shipper is "caught" and his invoices are audited they may come knocking on the door of anyone in the state that has ordered illegal fish, but again, if one does not have the fish anymore how could they possibly prosecute you?

As far as penalty... likely just a fine, probation, and you would have to surrender the fish.

In my opinion I think that they are much more interested in catching the shippers than the recipients.

i did the back botton and changed things and pressed enter, did not know it was making mor3e threads hoping to have them deleted

I also looked and can't find any thing

you could potentially get some time in jail pending out some of investigation but a heavy fine etc... would be my guess... and if you were to do something like that the absolute best thing you could do would be not talk about it....

no just want to know what can really happen,,, thier is no info about it... just ....you can't have them ...i wanted to know why...well I read thier is some like the florida one,, is thier others??.

I am more of a salt water guy any way.

I would love to have one. i heird some dealer send them but thier would be a record...
to scarry to me ,.....I will just have to stick to salt water ones ... just as nice.

I agree. There are some cool saltwater rays out there. I used to have a couple blue spotted ribbontail rays..... They're not easy to keep, but I got two healthy ones. Had them in a 300 gallon until a power failure while I was sleeping killed them. Needless to say, I was disappointed.

Regarding the law/penalty question..... I don't know what the penalty is, but the fact of buying a ray would be a violation, even if the ray is now dead. I agree with everone else that it is unlikely you would be prosecuted for possessing a ray in the past, but it could be done. Not worth the risk.
