I have 2 20G tanks...

Could I use One of these for a sump on a 55???

My mom says If i get rid of them I can get another 55 so i figured why not make them filters =)

so I could have 2 55G tanks wit a 20G sump on each wit a magnum HOT and Tetra 30-60...

My stock would be a single oscar in one 55 and a pair of EBJD in the other

and Yes i DO plan on adding even more filtration and powerheads

definitely and i would recommend doing so. the 20g would make an excellent sump for the 55g simply get a nice pump (somewhere in the 400gph or higher range) and setup an overflow or siphon down to it. then simply add some tiers with media. then your sumps would be primary filtration with your hob's mostly there for aeration.

ok, how would I make one?? Do I have to drill anything??? (I hope not) I just want somethin that I can do EASILY and will work...

It definitely doesnt have to look pretty

And also... Do sumps really filter the water very well???

I have never owned one but I hear that they are good

A "sump" is simply a box of water that is seperate from your tank...

You can deign one to give perfect filtration, or you can design it to be fairly useless... it's all in how you design the water flow through the media in the sump...

You will need a way for the water to get from the tank to the sump... This is either done with an external overflow box or a standpipe/internal overflow on a drilled tank. It sounds to me like you need to read up on external overflow boxes.

can u do me a favor and send me a link to dome of that information??? I am useless when it comes to finding stuff

I don't have/know any off hand...

You can either make your own or buy a premanufacturered one...

So either go to the DIY folder and use the search feature there or go to your perferred Online Fish Supply Store and start seeing what's aavailable...

I'm not very good at locating information on the internet either but the more I do it the better I get... ;) (hint hint)
