Home of the brave.
I recently added my first of 2 FX-5's on my established 180g. I loaded the bottom tray full of established media and the other two with seachem pond matrix. The first couple of days were awesome as the water was crystal clear. But now there is a white haze in the water sort of like a new tank when it is cycling. Would adding a Fx-5 to an established tank cause the tank to go through a mini-cycle?

Thank you

anybody?

Probably just a bacterial bloom, not necessarily a mini-cycle unless you start to see ammonia or nitrite... You still have the old filter running too, right?

Yes I have 2 emp 400's and a ehiem 2213 that have been established for months still running on the tank.

Just keep an eye on the water chemistry, but I'm sure its just BB bloom...

Thanks man!

this could also be microbubbles. My fx5 does this if the o-ring isn't seated fully

The main o-ring between the lid and the canister right? How do you make sure it is seated fully?

Take a large clear container of water from the tank and set it in the light...if it clears they are micro bubbles, if they stay it is a bacteria bloom...;)
