Once again my fx-5 is acting up. It wont pump water out into the tank now. I cleaned the impeller sunday and all the media. It was working last night and this morning but i hooked my spray bar back up and now it wont start. It tries to run and then stops. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Is it kinda new? When I got my two, on two seperate occasions they both wouldn't start up after I turned them off. I cleaned the impellers after those two times, and they started back up. Those were the only two times that that happened, and now they start up every time.
Another thought - do you fill it with 2.5 gallons before you plug the power in?

This is the first time ive had a problem with it not starting and its pretty new maybe two years. I just cleaned the impeller a few days ago also. It is filled water also so I ran out of ideas, i guess i can try to clean the impeller again.
Is the return line submerged? I know my one Eheim wouldn't start unless the return wasn't submerged. Haven't had any issues with my FX5 so I'm throwing out guesses here.

The FX5 runs for 2 minutes then shuts itself off for some time, then restarts. Is this what it's doing?
ok, the output is under water, the canister is primed and full. when the pump is plugged in it starts and runs and then stops. When it is running no water is being pushed out back into the tank
